Trainings

40-Hour Basic Mediation Training

This 40-hour Basic Mediation course is designed to acquaint participants with the philosophy, concepts, process model and specific behavioral skills needed for a working role as a beginning mediator. Master a collaborative, interest-based mediation model that will assist parties in conflict to find mutually agreeable solutions.

This is the foundation course for all DRC volunteer mediators. This class is also applicable for legal, mental health, and other professionals to satisfy the Standards for Collaborative Practice by the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. CLE and ethics credits available.

Tuition

  • Early Bird – $600 through 10/4/10 for Fall session
  • Regular Tuition – $650
  • Last Day to Sign up 10/11/10

Each class runs two consecutive weeks: Thursdays, 5 pm to 9 pm and both Friday and Saturday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Domestic Violence Awareness Workshop for Mediators and Other Professionals

Learn to judge the suitability of mediation for clients who have experienced domestic violence.  Enhance your skills in detecting and managing controlling behaviors and recognizing fear of violence during mock face-to-face intake sessions.  Gain more concrete knowledge of the legal issues surrounding domestic violence.  Hear the family law experts outline safeguards needed in Parenting Plans. Be coached by advocates from domestic violence shelters, therapists in perpetrator treatment, officials from law enforcement and trained and experienced mediators knowledgeable of power-balancing.

Advanced Family Mediation Training

Learn advanced mediation skills in dealing with complex issues that occur in divorce and family concerns. Gain knowledge in identifying domestic violence characteristics, relational patterns, and other family dynamics to help clients move to resolution. Accreditation available.
